Small-ensemble workshop
From solo to ensemble
Musicians and singers of every level meet, combine instruments and voices and shape small ensembles with a sound of their own. The workshop starts from playing together and ends with a live performance of a repertoire shaped by the group itself.
Who it is for
- Musicians with experience on their instrument who want to play with others.
- Singers with basic musical training who want to join an ensemble.
- People who used to play and want to return to music within a group.
How we work
We work with improvisation, listening and arrangement in small ensembles. Each meeting includes a shared warm-up, rehearsal of two or three pieces and time for the members' suggestions.
What you take with you
- A repertoire of three to five pieces shaped by the group
- Ensemble experience: listening, timing, balance of sound
- A live performance at the end of the cycle
What you need in order to take part
Your musical instrument or your voice, headphones, a stable internet connection, a camera, a microphone and a quiet space.
The two cycles
Cycle A, Playing together. We start from listening: how we hear the others while we play. We continue with rhythmic cohesion and balance of sound. We move to roles within the ensemble. We close with a repertoire of three pieces shaped by the group.
Cycle B, The ensemble. We start by forming stable groups. We continue with arrangement. We move to covers and your first own compositions. We close with preparation and a live performance.
The modules are indicative and are adapted to the needs of each group. Cycle B requires Cycle A. Registration is per cycle and you can stop whenever you wish by letting us know.
At the end of the cycle
The cycle ends with a live performance of the repertoire and a certificate of participation.
How you start
- You express your interest through the form.
- We call you, to get to know each other and answer your questions.
- You take part in the introductory meeting, without a contribution.
- You complete your registration for the cycle through a personal link and choose your contribution.
How the group works
The group forms during the first two meetings and then closes. Registrations are accepted up to and including the second meeting of the cycle. From then on the composition stays the same, because trust and shared work are built meeting by meeting.
